Representing defined benefit pension schemes
SME CONSULTATION GROUP

Former Minister for Pensions
Baroness Ros Altmann

"I am seriously concerned that the needs of smaller schemes have not been properly or adequately considered, and they do have significant assets that could be deployed for pooled investments in infrastructure, housing, growth businesses, smaller companies and so on. Currently, the only really suitable vehicles seem to be investment trusts, which have themselves been decimated by regulatory errors and over-zealous rules."
Mission
To represent defined benefit pension scheme sponsors in the UK, provide feedback and expertise to policymakers and to lobby government, quangos and agencies for workable outcomes which protect scheme members, sponsors and facilitate investment in British business.

There are around 5,000 small DB Pension schemes in the UK – most are run by lay trustees and sponsors who struggle with the complexities of the Pension System. Our aim is to provide a meeting point, a hub for information and links to where schemes can seek advice on how best to navigate the complexities of DB Pensions. We also actively lobby legislators and regulators, the Government, and associated Quangos to represent small schemes.
